Where is the Klaus Kinski film we’ve all been waiting for?

Biographical films are great. Rather than resorting to character cliches and having to come up with a story about some guy or girl who … (see, I’m struggling already), we have a rich bank of real people who have done some amazing things. Naturally, most critics will complain about liberties being taken for dramatic license. Surely there aren’t people out there who’ve had unbelievable experiences? Don’t get me wrong. There are a lot of ordinary people out there (me being one), so to subject an audience to a 110 minute compilation of not really much happening is somewhat indulgent. However, some people spend their whole life searching for a simpler life. Almost against his will, Klaus Kinski fought, insulted or impregnated other people on a regular basis.

A biographical film where a man, an artist, is continually tested and forced to react, is a film I want to see. Rather than a series of chronological events that serve to remind us how dull life can be, the Klaus Kinski story would be a cinematic document of how Kinski touched people (perhaps not always consensually) in a way few others have. There would be no need for dramatic license, Kinski took license on most things.

Sure, some people cure things, solve problems and make profound discoveries (insert Nobel Prize winner here…) but what unbelievable experiences have they had to justify a film about them? Perhaps if they were attacked, abused or seduced by Klaus Kinski.
